General: The color guard represents the cadet corps and their high schools at many formations, reviews, parades, athletic and official events throughout the year. In color guard, cadets learn responsibility, patriotism, and pride. The color guard is involved in many activities including: posting the colors for football games, marching in the Heartland Festival Parade, and various other ceremonies, such as Veterans Day and Memorial Day. As you can see, the Color Guards stay busy throughout the year.

Competition: The SAI will take advantage of every opportunity to place his color guard in competition and on public display. Uniform will be prescribed for seasonal wear. Optional items may be prescribed by the SAI’s. Out of town performances and competition must be approved by the school system, principal, SAI, and parents of each cadet.

Membership: Each school will organize and train a color guard consisting of a minimum of 4 members. At the discretion of the SAI, units may have more than one color guard. All cadets are eligible to volunteer for the color guard provided they meet the following requirements:

A. Hardin County Schools eligibility for athletics or extracurricular activities.
